What is the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)?

The GDPR unifies data protection laws across Europe. It applies to any company or service which collects and/or processes personal information from any European Union (EU) resident, regardless of locale.

What data is subject to the GDPR?

Any information that could directly or indirectly identify an individual. This includes names, addresses, phone numbers, date of birth, IP addresses, cookies, social media information, etc.

What is Yulibu's role?

Under the GDPR, Yulibu is considered a Controller. A Controller is an entity that decides what to do with the collected data. For example, a Controller may use marketing or analytics services to improve website offerings.

What is Yulibu doing to comply with the GDPR?

Yulibu is fully committed to achieving compliance with the GDPR regulations. In February 2018, we updated our Privacy Policy in anticipation of the new rules. In addition to the GDPR principles, Yulibu complies with the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield Framework and the Swiss-U.S.Privacy Shield Framework as set forth by the U.S. Department of Commerce regarding the collection, use and retention of personal information transferred from the European Union and Switzerland to the United States.

How does Yulibu use the data it collects?

Yulibu collects personal data to facilitate transactions between buyer and seller, to provide site personalization (user preferences), marketing initiatives (including social media sharing, connection settings, and email campaigns) and analytics (to improve site performance).

In addition to the above, Yulibu has implemented the following GDPR safeguards:

1. Requiring explicit consent to the collection/use of cookies and email for marketing initiatives.

2. The ability to withdraw or amend consent (both cookie and email) in user preferences.

3. Enabling data portability by allowing users to download personal via an 'Export Profile' link in user preferences.
